Our CarpeTells can identify

- PET (Polyester)
- PTT (Polytrimethylene terephthalate)

- PU (Polyurethane)
- Wool-Nylon blends
- PET-PTT blends
- Nylon 6 - PTT blends
Our CarpeTells cannot identify
- Flooring containing carbon black. This pigment causes all the infrared light to be absorbed and as a result, we don't get any useful information from the sample. This is a problem shared with other NIR identification devices and there isn't much we can do.
- Heavily soiled carpets. However, if there are small areas of clean, unstained carpet, the material can be identified.
- The materials in carpet backings - but we're working on adding support for this.
